So we moved for my dad's job, and flew from Tokyo to New York. After we got our luggage, we took a taxi for about 1 and a half hours to housing in Bedminster, New Jersey that was set up by the company my dad worked for. That was one of the first surprising things, that we had to drive everywhere, because in Tokyo I pretty much always used public transportation. After we unpacked, we drove to a grocery store - maybe Stop-And-Shop, to get some food. I spent the rest of the day at home, and that was pretty much it. I didn't see or talk to many people, although I could definitely feel the difference in culture. People in the Northeast tend to be busy and not as friendly as people in Japan. There was also a really rich culture in Japan, and in America, there's not really a one-size-fits-all culture, it's more diverse.
