TRANSCRIPT

If I could use two words to describe my first day in the America, it would definitely be hopeful and excited.

I came to America when I was 13. It was the summer of 2010. I actually moved to Wisconsin before I came to Seattle, so I stay in Wisconsin for 4 years for high school. The reason I came because I have families there, and I really wanna to receive an education in America. So I came straight from Hong Kong. (My aunt )and my uncle picked me up at the airport. They drove me to Chinatown, Chicago, and we had Chinese food there. It was a pretty good way to ease my transition.

And they drove me back to Wisconsin. My sister went back home early to meet me because she was not able to pick me up at the airport. Well we saw each other. We were super excited to see each other. We hugged, maybe I cried a little bit. I was just really emotional. We just had one of those girls’ night talk, we gave updates about each other’s lives. We had a wonderful time. And then we went downtown, and we just walked around. It was great.

I was very excited, and I was very pumped about it. Very excited to see how my life is gonna changed. But I actually did not miss my parents at all. I didn’t miss home, but I appreciate their support. First day, my mom and my dad called me, they were asking how I am doing. I was just telling them I am fine, aunt and uncle picked me up at the airport. They called me, they missed me. But I was just telling them like “ don’t worry about me, I will be fine here. I am very excited to moving to America. I will keep in touch with you guys soon. Maybe later on I did miss the food a lot. My first day was actually really wonderful. I didn’t want to go back and change anything. I loved my first day in America.
