My wife had immigrated before me and was staying at a friend's house. When I landed at JFK on April 12, 1976 at 9:00 PM she took me to an apartment she had rented. The next morning I went to buy a few things, around Main St, Flushing but forget to write my address down and while coming back got lost. Luckily I remembered the address of the friend and asking for directions reached her house. Luckily she was home and asked her how to get back to my apartment. In retrospect, sounds funny, but was scary that day.
