TRANSCRIPT

My first day in America. My name is Maganbhai Patel. I came from Gujarat, India. I knew that America is a great democratic country. After independence, America developed fast. I was impressed by its progress. I decided I wanted to see America by any cost. I arrived on April 20th 2010 at O'Hare Airport. On that day, my wife and I were only welcomed by my daughter, grandkids, and son-in-law. We arrived at the airport at 3pm. The weather was clear. I saw the third largest international airport of O'Hare. It covered a wide area. More than a thousand airplanes land and takeoff everyday. The airport looked so busy. After that we sat in the car and took the road home. Chicago's roads were good. The roads were three and four lanes up and down. All the cars were going fast. We saw big bridges. It was spring. There was green scenery on both roadsides. The trees were standing on both roadsides. There were red, white, yellow, brown, and sky-colored flowers. We saw them like they were welcoming us heartily. That time I was feeling so happy. I saw in our car a new thing, a GPS. The GPS was announcing where and when to turn right or left and how far away our home was. It wasn't necessary to ask any person. The car would reach the address. I thought that was wonderful. America and India both are democratic countries. My first day I thought about comparison between them. The American people are better followers of rules and regulations than the Indian people. The main problems of India are: overpopulation, unemployment population, and poverty. But America has no problems like we have. We went to sleep because this was a long journey. -Maganbhai Patel
