Hi! My name is Amit Kumar Singh. I am here…I am working at UT as a postdoc. I am in J1 visa. And, regarding my first day experience, it was actually very good. One of (the) members of my lab she came here to pick us up…and…she was really nice, she was really nice, she was very friendly.
The first impression of USA was actually very nice. So…that gave us like a confidence and we were very happy about that. Then afterwards, we found one friend here…Indian friend. And, um… the night that we came here his wife gave us like a Indian food. So that was like yummy, and felt like home. So, in that sense, it was really very nice.
So, we went to the…next day, when we went to the lab, people were really friendly and I really like the atmosphere. And, I think I made right choice coming here.
Austin for me is little bit warmer, like weather wise... what else, I think, it's a nicer city. It's like the best places to live in USA. I don't know why, but yeah, it makes sense (chuckles)…yeah…I like the food here…like there are so many different varieties…even for the Indian food, as well as you know, all the other…all the other varieties…or cuisine in the world is here. And, I am not very big fan of music, but Austin is a capital, supposedly capital of music, or something…overall I liked it. It's a very vibrant place…So, I like working in UT. UT is also very big and it's like one of the top institutions in the world as well as in US also. So, overall my experience so far was good.
